About Bismuth Ferrite
Bi3Fe5O12, also known as bismuth iron garnet (BIG), is a magnetic oxide material with a complex garnet structure. It exhibits strong ferromagnetic properties, with a high Curie temperature and large saturation magnetization. The unique combination of magnetic and optical properties in BIG makes it suitable for use in various magneto-optical devices, such as Faraday rotators, optical isolators, and magnetic field sensors. BIG thin films can be deposited using techniques like sputtering, allowing for the integration of this material into integrated photonic and optoelectronic devices.
