Nitride ceramics are a class of materials that consist of nitrogen and a metal or metalloid element. They exhibit strong covalent bonding, high melting points, excellent thermal stability, and good mechanical properties. Boron Nitride (BN) ceramics is known for its exceptional thermal conductivity, high electrical resistance, and machinable hardness. It is used in applications such as high-temperature crucibles, insulators, protective tubes. High purity boron nitride could be obtained by high temperature process, as the impurities are evaporized by the heat. The 99.9% grade high purity TPBN is obtained by this process. While 99.99% boron nitride is possible with chemical vapor depostion and it could be used to make high purity boron nitride sputtering target.
Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) possesses high strength, toughness, and excellent thermal shock resistance. It finds applications in cutting tools, bearings, engine components, and turbine blades, where high-temperature and wear resistance are required. Thinfilm coatings of silicon nitride could be made based on high purity Si3N4 sputtering targets, produced by hot pressing technique.

On the other hand, Aluminum nitride ceramic is also a structural ceramic material, with its top thermal conductivity amoung all the ceramics, aluminum nitride could be used to make substrates, crucibles and some other custom designed parts.
Chromium Nitride (CrN) is valued for its high hardness, low friction, and excellent adhesion. It finds applications as a wear-resistant coating on cutting tools, molds, and decorative finishes.
