Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN)
PBN (Pyrolytic Boron Nitride) is a solid ceramic material produced through the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process, where boron nitride crystals grow parallel to the surface on which the vapor is deposited. This unique deposition method gives PBN its alternate name, Chemical Vapor Deposition Boron Nitride.
PBN is known for its extremely high purity, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring pristine boron nitride material. The CVD process ensures a higher purity level compared to regular boron nitride powders. Typical PBN grades boast a purity of 99.99%.
Due to the nature of the CVD process, PBN thick wall products, exceeding 3mm in thickness, are typically not available. However, PBN excels in offering high purity and precise dimensional control for thin-walled products.
