YSZ Sheets introduction

Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) sheets are valued for their superior properties compared to traditional alumina ceramics. With a composition of 94.7% zirconia and 5.2% yttria by weight, YSZ exhibits remarkable wear and corrosion resistance. Producing high-quality YSZ sheets requires meticulous processing and shaping methods.

Manufacturing begins with cold isostatic pressing of YSZ powder into blocks. These green bodies are then precision machined into plates or sheets using diamond cutting tools. To remove any flaws, the YSZ sheets undergo surface grinding and lapping, resulting in a smooth finish. The sheets are carefully dried to minimize cracks before sintering at high temperatures up to 1600C. During sintering, the YSZ particles fuse together as the material densifies into a strong, consolidated sheet. Finally, the fired YSZ is subject to high precision grinding and polishing using diamond abrasives. This produces the exceptional dimensional accuracy and surface quality that make YSZ sheets ideal for demanding applications in optics, electronics, and precision tooling. With every step closely monitored, this careful production process yields YSZ sheets renowned for their durability, purity, and performance.
